MEXICO CITY, MEXICO – October 1, 2025 – Acclaimed Dutch multi- instrumentalist, composer, and producer Harry Kappen returns with the release of his latest single and lyric video, “The Longing.” The track serves as the opening piece and fourth single from his highly anticipated new album, FOUR.
“The Longing” dives deep into one of the most universal struggles of the human experience—the eternal battle between head and heart. Through raw lyricism and dynamic musical shifts, Kappen explores the tension between cool rationality and genuine emotion, ultimately revealing that while his heart may win, it never loses sight of reason.
Following the deeply personal “Courage” (inspired by his love for his wife and recent move to Mexico), the politically charged “Break These Chains,” and the widely praised “Be Brave If You Can,” Kappen now takes listeners on an introspective journey that speaks to every soul wrestling with inner conflict.
Musically, “The Longing” is one of Kappen’s most ambitious works to date. It flows seamlessly from quiet atmospheres to hard rock intensity, reflecting his years as a guitarist in Groningen-based rock bands. The track showcases his hallmark blend of acoustic and electric guitars, layered polyphonic vocal lines, lyrical solos, and compelling orchestrations —an explosive representation of his artistry and the dualities within.
“I wanted to capture that tug-of-war we all feel,” says Kappen. “The quiet reflection, the bursting emotions, and how they collide. In the end, my heart usually leads, but never without listening to my head.”
As always, Kappen’s music pays homage to the artists who shaped his sound—Lennon & McCartney, Prince, David Bowie, Thom Yorke, Knower, Alanis Morissette, Led Zeppelin, and countless others—while remaining distinctly his own.

Harry Kappen is no stranger to creating music that matters. With three previous solo albums—Pictures, Escape, and Time Will Tell—he has built a strong reputation in the independent music scene for his eclectic sound and lyrical depth.

His latest project, Four, continues this tradition with ten deeply personal songs exploring themes of love, courage, truth, and the struggle to live authentically in turbulent times. All of this is framed by his unwavering devotion to his wife, who remains his constant source of inspiration.

Musically, Four is as diverse as ever—ranging from gritty guitar-driven rock to smooth jazzy ballads and touches of Latin flair. Yet every song bears Kappen’s unique signature: a sound that’s both sophisticated and emotionally raw.

Harry Kappen is an independent Dutch musician, producer and music therapist. 

He is an experienced musician, a multi-instrumentalist, who played in many bands in the Netherlands and throughout Europe. He is a producer and worked with a lot of Dutch popbands. Since he was young he composed hundreds of songs, for his own bands or just for fun and sometimes for events or for Dutch television. Harry is an admirer of David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Prince, Radiohead, Knower, Scandinavian pop and classical music and a lot more. Sometimes their music reflects in Harry's eclectic music. HK plays, writes and produces his music by himself in his home studio. In November 2022 Harry joint the MTS-management group from Pittsburgh owned by Michael Stover. Since then Harry’s musical career has gained momentum big time.

As a music therapist HK helps youngsters and adolescents to cope with a variety of problems in a institution for youth care; problems caused bij development disorders or/and behavioral disorders. The fact that he is a multi-instrumentalist comes very handy in his work as music therapist; it's important to be able to connect musically with a client quite quickly on every instrument. Also he helps families who are struggeling with disfunctional paterns. Music therapy is a great way to make these patterns audible and curable.

Besides his work as music therapist he works as a lecturer on an international master's degree in music therapy in Rotterdam in the Netherlands (Codarts).
